What did Darwin find on the islands

A

During his time on the island he made his famous observation of the finches. He noted that different islands had different finches; but their beaks and claws were different sizes and shapes.

What did Darwin conclude from his observations

A

Through observations he realised the design of the finches’ beaks was linked to the food available on each island. He concluded a bird born with a beak more suited to their environment would survive and pass on the characteristics - named it natural selection.

A

At the same time of Darwin, Wallace developed similar ideas. He sent them to Drawin and they proposed the theory of evolution together.
