Q

How do nutrients contribute to our anatomy?

A

Cell membranes are made up of lipids.

Proteins and carbohydrates can be found embedded within these membranes.

The inner goo, or cytoplasm, of a cell is made up of water and certain minerals like potassium and chloride are found within it

The body is 60–70% water by weight

Protein also adds structure to our muscles, bones and teeth.

Minerals harden our bones and teeth, making them stronger.

Lipids provide body structure and cushioning when they are stored in adipose tissue.
