Relationship Conflict
Tensions among individuals due to personal differences, not related to the task.
Task Conflict
Disagreements about the nature or content of the work to be done.
Process Conflict
Disagreements about how the work should be organized or carried out.
Constructive Conflict
Helps make better decisions and brings good changes. It usually happens when people disagree about the work (task), but not about each other or how the work is done.
Destructive Conflict
Conflict that hinders progress and team functioning, usually when relationship/process conflict is high.
Conflict Stimulation
Intentional introduction of conflict to break routine or drive innovation and change.
Conflict Dynamics - Winning
When resolving the problem becomes less important than defeating the other party.
Conflict Dynamics - Information Concealment
Parties begin hiding or distorting information; group conformity increases.
Conflict Dynamics - Restricted Contact
Interaction between parties is minimized and limited to formal situations.

You see the other group in a bad way and see your own group as better.

Assertive individuals who excel at conflict may rise as group leaders during conflict.
