* Uses a backlight
o CCFL = Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp
o Can use Streps of LED lights

- Converts DC AC for the backlight
- Flickering / dimness = problem with inverter

Twisted Nematic
a. Very old [not a good viewing angle]
b. Good response time
c. Very little lag, high refresh rate, 240 Hz
d. Bad color

a. Great color
b. Good viewing angle
c. Little lag

Vertical Alignment
a. Great color
b. Okay response
OLED
Organic Light Emitting Diode
a. Light-emitting compound
b. NO need for a backlight
c. Contrast ratio of OLED displays exceed that of LCD panels
i. Contrast Ratio = levels of blackness
ii. Black images look good compared to LCD
d. OLED are the highest quality
e. Found in smaller devices = smart phones
