Xtrap Train Electrics Flashcards
What does the High voltage circuit and equipment consist of? (7 answer)
• Pantograph
• Lightning Arrestor
• 2 High Speed Circuit Breakers
• Line Inductors
• Traction Inverter
• Rheostatic Brake Resistor Grids
• Auxiliary Inverter (SIV).
What 2 places does the power flow to from the traction container?
- Auxiliary container( SIV on tp car)
- Traction inverter (inverts to variable 3 phase AC
Where does the 1500v DC from the Panto go?
Passes through the Lighting arrester and 2 high speed circuit breakers and through to the line breakers on MC cars
What happens to the 1500v DC in the static converters?
Gets inverted to 400v AC for the aux equipment
What does the Battery charger do with the 400v AC?
Transforms to 123v DC got use with train lined control circuits and batteries
Where is the Panto located?
Number 2 end of Tc
How does the Panto raise?
When key is switched on it will automatically raise providing there is enough power in the batteries
What does the lighting arrestor do?
Protects 1500v DC circuits against over voltage and sends back to ground
Where are the HSCBs located?
There are 2 mounted on roof of Tc
What happens if the HSCB is tripped?
No power will be supplied to the train
What does the line inductor do?
Filters overhead power
What do traction motors operate on?
3 phase variable power
What does the TCU do?
Controls voltage into traction motors; amount of supply depends on powering or ED breaking
What are the 2 positions of a High voltage supply switch?
Power supply
Earth
NO TOUCHY FITTERS ONLY
What comprises the low voltage system?
(6 answers)
• Auxiliary Inverter
• 400/220 v AC system
• 110 v DC system
• 24 v AC/DC system
• Batteries
• Air Conditioning system
What does each SIV produce?
400v AC
The output of the SIV supplies power to what equipment?
(6 answers)
• 400/220v AC system
• 110 v DC System
• Air Conditioners
• Air Compressors
• Battery Charger
• Traction converter cooling fans
What does the battery charger do?
Provides 110v DC to the low voltage equipment
And provides a constant charge to the batteries
What 4 functions can only be performed at a speed threshold of 0.5km
Resetting safety loop
Resetting trip cock device
Uncouple
Saloon doors release
STUD
