What is the purpose of Dual control point machines?
• enables the points the be operated remotely by a signaller
• Or in case of failure by driver or competent employee under instructions of signaller or TC
What 2 levers does the DCPM machine have?
• Selector lever ( smaller lever, for remote control)
• Hand throw lever ( Larger lever, manual control, Normal or reverse)
What is the purpose of the selector lever?
• Provide signaller remote control of points and signals
• Prevent manual operation
What is the purpose of the selector levers Hand position?
• To prevent remote control of points due to failure
• To protect the train by holding the signals governing movement of the points at the Stop position
How will you know that the lever is in the Hand position?
It will say Hand
How will you know the lever is in the motor position?
It will say Motor
Motor is normal position
What is the Normal position of points?
The points are set for the normal movement or main line
What is the Reverse position of points?
The points are set for diverging track
What is the Reverse position of points?
The points are set for diverging track
What does the the N and R mean on a hand Throw lever?
Normal
Reverse
What must you do after manually operating points?
Secure in required position with padlock
How to operate the Hand throw lever?
The first throw engages the points
The second throw sets the position of points
E.g N>R>N. R>N>R>N
When do you put the hand lever back to normal and the selector lever back to motor?
Only if instructed
