What hand signals will the inner flagman exhibit?
Red Hand signal
Green Hand signal
Green hand signal waved side to side as required (indicates 25km/h)
How many ATWS should be placed and how far apart when protecting country or suburban track?
3 ATWS, 10 metres apart on one rail of the line
What should be done if the Memory Aid Device Malfunctions?
Report as as per FMP by TMM
Must not cause train to be delayed or cancelled
What other reasons can the MAD Device be used?
- When passing Automatic Signals at STOP
- Temporary speed restrictions
- After arriving at a station when the previous signal was displaying a
WARNING aspect and the signal ahead is not in clear view
When a driver sights the lookout or workers they must?
• Sound a long whistle
• The Lookout will give an All Right hand signal to indicate that the workfare aware of approaching train
If the alright hand signal is not given the driver must?
Reduce the speed of the train and sound the long whistle again
What is a warning board and how far is it placed from point of damage?
A yellow Reflectorized board fishtailed on both ends with a Red “W” and required speed before passing caution board
They are placed 1200m from point of track damage.
What is a caution board and how far is it places from point of damage?
It is a yellow reflectorized circular board with a Red letter “C”
Sign is 200 metres from point of work
Below the sign displays the max speed permitted between caution sign NS and N
What is a normal short board and how far is is placed after point of work?
White Reflectorized sign with black letters “NS”
It’s is placed 200m after point of work
When front of train passes NS sign driver may resume normal speed
What is a Normal board and how far is it placed from point of work?
White Reflectorized sign with black letter “N”
It is placed 1200m after point of work
All trains can resume normal speed after reaching “N”
What is the setup for TFP in the country area?
Outerflag man: 3 fixed signals, 2000-4000m, signal box in rear.
3 x ATWS over 10m.
Innerflag man: 200m from work
What is the setup for TFP in the inner suburban area?
Outerflag man:
2 fixed signals.
No ATWs.
Innerflag man: 100m from work
What is the setup for TFP in the suburban area?
Outerflag man: 3 fixed signals, 1200m, signal box in rear.
3 x ATWS over 10m.
Innerflag man: 200m from work
What do P and G stand for on a caution/warning board?
The maximum speed for the specific train type.
