what does a warm up do
helps prepare the body for exercise
- should always be carried out before the start of any training session
- helps to reduce injury
what are the three stages
stage 1- perform cardio vasular exercise. e.g. jogging to increase heart rate gradually towards the working hr
stage 2- stretching/flexibility exercises
stage 3- involve movement patterns that are to be carried out. e.g. practicing shooting in basketball
what is static stretching
not moving and can be active or passive
what is active
working on one joint, pushing it bejond its point of resistance and lengthning the muscles and connective tissues surrounding it
what is passive
stretch occurs with help of an external force
