What characteristics does a team have
Collective identity

A shared goal or purpose
What is collective identity
Team can be recognised easily, usually wearing same kit. Team members often feel strong affiliation to the team and gain a sense of pride when wearing the team kit
What is interaction
Team members should operate in their own role successfully and also be able to link this role with other members of the team
What is communication
To help with interaction, the individuals players in the team should talk to each other and communicate non verbally in the way that rugby players would use a coded call or hand signal to indicate where the ball is being thrown at the line out
What is a shared goal or purpose
Prospect of achieving success is what often keeps players in the team and working for each other. All players should want to aim for the same goal to have maximum motivation

Forming
Storming
Norming
Performing
What is forming
Group comes together and gets to know eachother
What is storming
Potential conflict when individuals may compete with each other’s to establish position, status or role in the team
What is norming
Once conflicts resolved the team begins to settle down and cooperate with the intention of achieving their goals
What is performing
All players are now interactive and working together to achieve their goals. Team members support eachother and understand their role in their team
