- misinterpretation of questions, lack of understanding
- answers may depend on mood
- questions may be inappropriate and lead to biased answers
- responses can be influenced by the time taken to complete the questions- rushing

  • if you have the trait, you are more likely to experience the state

  • somatic anxiety = psychological and includes muscular tension
