Vecuronium (Norcuran) Flashcards
Vecuronium Classification
Non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocker
Vecuronium Mechanisim of Action
Nicotinic ACh R-antagonist -> competes with ACh at neuromuscular junction and prevents binding thus inhibiting skeletlal muscle depolarization
Vecuronium Pharmacokinetics
Onset: <1m
Peak: 3-5m
Duration: 30-80m
Half Life: 30-80m
Vecuronium Indications/Field Use
- Need for temporary paralysis to facilitate endotracheal intubation
- Need for continued paralysis following endotracheal intubation
Vecuronium Contraindications
Hypersensitivity
Vecuronium Side Effects/Adverse Reactions
Bradycardia, hypotension
Vecuronium Dose
Adult:
0.08-0.1mg/kg IV, IO
Pedi:

Vecuronium Precautions
Presence of neuromuscular diseases may be associated with prolonged paralysis
Vecuronium Drug Interactions
Potentiated by lidocaine, procainamide, β-blockers, magnesium sulfate, and other neuromuscular blockers
