Dixiecrats
Opposed racial integration and wanted more Jim Crow laws, and started splitting the solid south apart.
NASA
U.S. Space Program, used to combat the Russian research into space flight to be ahead in the space race and cold war.
SCLC
Southern black rights organization, M.L.K. was its first president, and tried to make progress with civil rights in the south.
Peace Corps
Tried to make the American image better by sending people out into low income places, made by Kennedy, and was effective in that respect.
Office of Econ. Opportunity
Created by Lyndon B. Johnson, part of his Great Society Legislative Agenda, created opportunity, ya know, for like Indians and stuff.
National Farm Workers Assoc.
Larry Itliong lead it, a workers union for farmers, lead the strikes against grapes and stuff.
Freedom Riders
Groups of blacks who rode into the south on buses to spread the rights movement to the south, lead to lots of violence.
War Criminals

The people that flew the spaceships, you know, pretty big celebrities of the time.
SNCC
Focused on black power and lead by revolutionaries like Stokely Carmichael, was the big part of the student revolution.
The Warren Court
Liberal Court that managed to pass lots of civil rights past the conservative right, lead by the most liberal dude ever, Earl Warren.
SDS
Student activist movement, pretty much more hippies, actually dealt with a lot of student power stuff, and then lead into involvement with many other movements of the era.
La Raza
Political party started by Jose Angel Gutierrez, worked for better housing and jobs, and also backed latino political candidates
HUAC
Different from McCarthyism in the inspection of Anti-Communist activities, because they didn’t suck at it, as much.
Comm. for Civil Rights
Organization reporting on civil rights in America, which there was a lot to report on, made by good old Dwight.
