Civil Rights Act of 1964
Passed by LBJ, outlawed public segreg and discrim, forbade racial discrim in the workplace
Tet Offensive
1968; National Liberation Front and North Vietnamese forces launched a huge attack on the Vietnamese New Year (Tet), which was defeated after a month of fighting and many thousands of casualties; major defeat for communism, but Americans reacted sharply, with declining approval of LBJ and more anti-war sentiment
Pueblo Incident
In January 1968 during the Vietnam War the North Koreans seized the “Pueblo”, a U.S. intelligence ship, evidently in international waters. They imprisoned the crew of some eighty men for eleven months. This episode stirred American anger, but provoked no military response.

(1978-1979) a revolution against the shah of Iran, which resulted in Iran becoming an Islamic republic, the revolution that transformed Iran from a monarchy under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to an Islamic republic under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Mullahs (religious leaders) overthrow the US backed Shah and establish a theocracy (religious government) that hated the US
Watergate Scandal
A scandal which exposed lies and involvement in the Watergate case of burglary of the national Democratic party headquarters; wrapped up Nixon and the White House in a lot of scandals.
War Powers Act
This act stated that the president must report to Congress within 2 days of putting troops in danger in a foreign country, and there would be a 60 to 90 day limit for over seas troop presence.
Camp David Accords
The Camp David Accords were the peace accords signed by Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat to finally end the Israeli-Egyptian disputes. The achievement by Carter is considered his greatest achievement in office.

Peace time military rescue operation conducted by US armed forces against Cambodia.

As a result of the Afghanistan invasion in 1979, an American boycott was declared against the 1980 summer Olympics held in Moscow
Grenada Invasion
Ronald Reagan dispatched a heavy- fire- power invasion force to the island of Grenada, where a military coup had killed the prime minister and brought Marxists to power —-Americans captured the island quickly demonstrating Reagan’s determination to assert the dominance of the US in the Carribbean

Was a suppression of Chinese democrats by the PLA. It caused much condemning from western nations including the U.S.
Panama Invasion
Ordered by Bush in December 1989 to remove the autocratic General Manuel Noriega. The said purpose of the invasion was to stop Noriega from using the country as a “drug pipeline” to the US.
Bakke V. Regents of the University of Cali
1978, reverse discrimination. US court case in which Bakke was denied to University of California Medical School twice to people less qualified based on race. Case determined that affirmative action is legal as long as filling quotas is not used.

Poll tax abolished.
Congress has the power to enforce this via legislation.
