A
Na+ channel blocker ->Stabilizes the neuronal membrane by inhibiting the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of pain impulses, thus causing local anesthetic action

Contraindications
A
- Penetrating trauma to globe of eye
- Hypersensitivity to Tetracaine/Novocaine

Stinging, ocular irritation, redness, delayed ocular wound healing

Adults & Pediatric:
1-2 drops 0.5% solution q 5-10min; max dose 6 drops/eye
