Mechanism of Action

A

Beta 1 receptor antagonist ->inhibits extracellular calcium entry and calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum in cardiac cells -> negative chronotropy, inotropy, dromotropy

Drug-Drug interaction

A
  • Do not give to pt receiving IV Ca2+ channel blockers, will increase risk of profound bradycardia
  • Additive effects with digoxin
