Taxi Flashcards
What’s the taxi briefing?
ADC (aerodrome data chart)
PDC (parking data chart)
any other appropriate chart, like the Enaire VFR guide
When do we do it?
After receiving taxi instructions from the ATC or before moving if there is no control
Where do the charts need to be?
always in sight during taxi
what for?
to offer a quick response to ATC even if we’re at an unfamiliar aerodrome
What do we do when we’ve been cleared for taxi?
Release parking brake
Switch taxi light ON
CHECK AREA AROUND US IS FREE AND TAXIWAY (looking left right and front
What do we do to begin the taxi?
avoid use of excessive power
What do we do once the acft is moving?
check correct operation of the brakes
first the flight instructor
then the student
At what power will the taxi be performed?
Reduced power, around 1000 rpm as to not apply excessive use of the brakes
What it is emphasized about the two fuel selectors?
That they are working correctly
Hence we should select them in this position (which position?) for 2-3 minutes
We will use the taxi to check this
In what position do the fuel selectors need to be?
One of the fuel selectors needs to be in XFEED position
maintaining the other in the ON position
What do we do once established on the taxiway?
we will check that the aircraft and all its flight equipment are ready for the flight
What do we need to check in order to assure this?
Flight controls are full and free:
- controls are to the right:
- right aileron up
- left aileron down
- Controls to the left:
- left aileron up
- right aileron down
- Pull controls to the chest:
- Elevator raises
- Push the column
- Elevator moves down
SET and CHECK flight instruments:
- Turn to the right
- numbers in DG increase
- turn coordinator indicates a turn to the right
- ball slips to the left
- compass moves freely and indicates increasing numbers, has no bubbles and moves freely.
- Turn to the left: - numbers in DG decrease - turn coordinator indicates a turn to the left - ball slips to the right - compas moves freely and indicates decreasing numbers, has no bubbles and moves freely
Airspeed indicator:
- shows zero
Horizaon
- level
- within limits: +/- 5º of bank
Altimeter
- calibrated with the QNH
- within limits +/- 60 fts of altitude
Turn coordinator
- wings level and ball is centered
HSI
- slaved
- coincides with compass
VSI
- indicates zero
What happens if we are on an instrumental flight when we’ve received the clearance for the route?
Adjust heading bug to the first heading to fly
Tune necessary navaids for the departure, correctly
- NAV1
- NAV2
- ADF
- DME
Identify all of them wherever possible
If possible:
- check equipement on ground with a VOR/DME whose identification is well known
- identification will be acceptable if it is within 4º
- Adjust radial or course to fly the instrumental departure
- Enter xponder code
- review altitude/level to which we’ve been cleared
What happens once we’ve completed all previous operations and have arrived at the holding point corresponding to the runway in use?
BRAKES…..APPLY
LANDING LIGHT OFF
