Instrumental maneouvers Flashcards
What are they designed for?
Achieve excellent knowledge of the acft
To fly it solely by reference to the instruments
Realization of these maneouvers is essential
What’s very important to grasp?
Concept of instrumental flight is based on fixed positions of the artificial horizon (Attitude indicator) and power
What’s CROSS CHECKING?
Where the AI is the central instrument where we get most information, and when power and trim is stable, we check other instruments from the AI to the:
- altimeter
- ASI
- DG
- VSI
always coming back to the AI before moving to the next instrument
What’s mandatory before performing any manouver?
HALTE
- Min altitude: 2500 ft AGL
- Establish visual references with sweeping turns to ensure there is no traffic in the vicinity (30º bank)
- Notifiy frequency in use
- position
- altitude
- intentions
- Secure the cabinFuel selectors ON
Cowl Flaps OPEN
Mixture RICH
Propeller control; 2400 RPM
Magnetos ON
Master ON

Gear UP and LOCKED
When will the instrumental maneouver end?
when the the airplane is in the same condition as we began the procedure
What are the tolerances in these maneouvers?
Heading: +/- 10º
Altitude: +/- 100 ft
Speed: +/- 5 kts
Time: +/- 5 Sec (timed maneouvers)
Who maintains visual contact with the ground and separations from other traffic, and continue to navigate, while the student performs the instrumental manouvers?
the instructor
