What is the difference between SGA and IUGR?
A
○ Intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR): always pathologic.
○ Small for gestational age (SGA): birth weight <10th percentile for gestational age, can be patho or non pathologic.
○ IUGR can be maternal fetal or placental origin, with asymmetrical (placental
and maternal, better) or symmetrical growth (fetal, worse outcome).
