List the indications and treatment procedures of Cororectal cancer

A

Hartmann (proctosigmoidectomy) is used for complicated
diverticulitis, colon cancer, etc. Removal of affected colon with
preservation of sphincters and distal third of rectum. Outflow
maintained with sigmoid colostomy, should wait several months for
colon to heal/diameter to narrow so that the colon can be reanastomosed
with the rectal stump.

■ Miles or abdominoperineal resection of the rectum is for rectal or
sigmoid colon cancer. Distal third of rectum is affected. Rectum and
anus are removed, permanent colostomy bag. No chance for
continence later.

■ Dixon: lower anterior resection. For proximal ⅓ of rectum, maintains
sphincters after operation.

Procedure for right-sided colon cancer : Right Hemicolectomy. Check histopathology for clear margin removal and local lymph node invasion . If Lymph node invasion give chemotherapy ( Oxaliplatin)

○ Check MTX: abdominal US, CXR, chest/abdomen CT, sometimes use PET
