List the Indications, Types and Disadvantages of C-section
A
Maternal mortality rate is 2-4 times the rate associated with vaginal delivery.
○ Indications: placenta previa, placental abruption, umbilical cord prolapse,
arrest of labor, nonreassuring fetal status, breech presentation
○ Types&G&Low transverse: incision in lower uterine segment or Classical:
vertical incision in upper contractile uterine segment
○ Disadvantages: Higher rate of hemorrhage and transfusion, Higher rate of
infection, Longer, more painful recovery, Increased risk of previa, accreta,
and hysterectomy with subsequent pregnancy
