Proximal muscle weakness
Flexion contractures
Muscle atrophy
Heliotrope rash
Gottron papule
Nailbed telangiectasis
Digital ulcerations.
Vasculitis in GI causes malabsorption, ulceration, risk of perforation.

Diagnosis of Dermatomyositis
A
Elevated muscle enzymes (CPK, aldolase)
Elevated ASAT/ALAT
Muscle biopsy
Electromyography
Antibodies: Anti-Jo1, anti-Mi2

Treatment of Dermatomyositis
A
First-line: Steroids, methotrexate.
Skin: hydroxychloroquine, IVIG.
Severe: cyclosporine, mycophenolate, etanercept, cyclophosphamide.
