Thrombus in an atherosclerotic vein
*can occur in a central or branch (MC )retinal veins

A
- Arteriosclerosis
- Glaucoma
- Hypercoagulable states (factor v)

What are the signs of rental vein occlusions
A
- Asymptomatic no pain, no redness
- Vision loss (variable)

What will be on PE
A
- Retinal cotton wool spots
- Widespread hemorrhages covering retinal surface and dilated/tortuous veins
*blood and thunder

What is the treatment of retinal vein occlusion
A
- Find and treat the risk factors
- Regular visits to the ophthalmologist
*monitor for development of neovascular i toon
*monitor IOP
