What is a Cholesteatoma
A
Keratinized collection / sack of dequamated squamous epithelium enzymes
*enzymes can erode bone (ossicles, mastoid)

What typically causes Cholesteatoma
A
ET dysfunction
1. TM is intact but May perforate
2. Can enlarge and occlude middle ear

What are the signs of Cholesteatoma
A
- Otorrhea (painless, brown/yellow discharge with strong odor)
- Conductive hearing loss
- Tinnitus
- Vertigo

What is the treatment of Cholesteatoma
A
Excision of sac and debris
*Marsupalization
