A
Transient monocular blindness
1. Transient ischemic attack of the retina (and optic nerve)
2. Pain less, unilateral

What are some RF of amaurosis fugax
A
- Atherosclerotic disease
- Giant cell arteritis
- SLE

What are the signs of amaurosis fugax
A
Rapid fading of vision in one or both eyes, like curtain passing vertically across the visual field

What is the treatment of amaurosis fugax
A
- ASA ASAP
- Cardiovascular evaluation
*identify the source of the embolus - Carotid endarectomy or angioplasty with stenting if high-grade CAS
