A
Excessive accumulation of endolymph fluid in labyrinth
1. Distention of endolymph this compartment of inner ear

A
40-50 year olds

What are the classic signs of meniere disease
A
- Episodic spontaneous vertigo that lat 20 minutes to several hours
- Low frequency SHL
- Sensation of unilateral aural pressure or fullness
- Nystagmus with acute attack
- Not precipitated by positional changes

What is the diagnosis criteria for Ménière’s disease
A
- Verified hearing loss
- 2 episodes of vertigo (20 minutes in length)
- Tinnitus
- Exclusion of other Dx

What is the treatment of Ménière’s disease
A
- Stabilizes the endolymph attic pressure / reduce the endolymph fluid
- Manage airborne allergens
- Referral to ENT

What are symptomatic relief treatments of Ménière’s disease
A
- Meds for motion sickness
- Anti-emetics
- antihistamine
- Diuretic

What is the prognosis of Ménière’s disease
A
- Increased risk of falling
- Depression / anxiety
- Permanent hearing loss
