Q

How can protein sequences be used as evidence?

A
  1. Animals from the same species will have identical amino acid sequences.
  2. Different species may have different amino acids or amino acids arranged in a different order.
  3. The degree of difference between proteins enables an estimate to be made of the amount of evolution that has taken place. The longer the period of time, the greater the number of amino acids that are different.
