What is malaria?
Is an intermittent and remittent fever caused by a protozoa parasite that invades red blood cells and is transmitted by mosquitoes.
What are 3 symptoms of malaria?
- Extreme fatigue.
- Impaired consciousness.
- Difficulty breathing.
What is the method of transmission of malaria?
Transmitted by vectors.
Where do mosquitos breed?
Quiet and stagnant pools.
How, why and in what locations did the incidence of malaria increase?
Humans began to clear the forests of Africa for agriculture. They changed the environment in a manner that created additional breeding areas for mosquitos. They increased the food supply from agricultural production which allowed the human population to increase proving more bodies on which mosquitos could infect. Malaria is present in parts of central Africa and parts of southeast Asia.
What is the mortality rate of malaria?
- 2021: 247 million cases.
- 2021: 619,000 deaths.
