What is a phylogenetic tree?
A
Is a diagram used to represent the evolutionary relationships derived from a common ancestor and simplify complex relationships. The base of the tree is the common ancestor and the branches are the organisms that arise from the common ancestor. Relationships are shown by the distance between branches.
