Immune System Flashcards

Q
What are two things that ‘seasoning’ or repeated infections lead to?
A
- Memory cells produce a stronger response to secondary infections, so symptoms are less.
- Memory cells can detect pathogenic material quickly.

Q
Compare and contrast the two specific responses of the body.
A
Compare -
1. Respond to only one type of antigen.
2. Produce memory cells.
3. Uses lymphocytes.
4. Lymphocytes originate in bone marrow.
Contrast -
1. Humoral involves B cells.
2. Cell mediated involves T cells.
3. Humoral response produces antibodies.
4. Cell-mediated does not produce antibodies.
5. Humoral forms into plasma and memory cells. (2 cells)
6. Cell mediated form into killer T cells, suppressor, helper and memory (4 cells)
