PET II Flashcards
What radation is used for therapy?
Alpha and B - radation
What radiation is used for therapy?
B + and gamma
What’s the most penetrant radiation?
Gamma radiation
It doesn’t have mass.
What’s the most ionizing radiation?
Alpha
Because of it’s large mass.
In what type of radiation and process are PET scans based on?
In beta + radiation and pair production.
What does 18F-FDG measures?
It measures glucose metabolism as it’s uptaken along with glucose.
More uptaken in tumor cells, more glucose metabolism.
Why when using 18F-FDG is room temperature so important?
Too cold, brown fat will encrease thermogenesis, more glucose and 18F-FDG upake.
What can we do to quantify the amount of the disease?
A semiquantitative analysis, a SUV (standard uptaken value).
What radiopharmaeutical can be used to diagnose Parkinson?
18F-DOPA
DOPA enters through LAT transporters in neuroendocrine cells.
Precursor of Catecholamines
What radiopharmaeutical can be used to diagnose Parkinson?
68Ga-PSMA
What radioactive element is used usually for treatment?
177 Lu
