Every 1-2wks until stable
Every 2-3 months thereafter
How long should contraception be used for with methotrexate?
During the treatment and At least 6 months after for both men and women
Why does pregnancy have to be screened out in methotrexate?
Methotrexate is an anti folate which can cause harm to foetal growth
What other drugs are antifolates?
Trimethoprim
Phenytoin
Co-Trimoxazole
What drugs should be avoided in methotrexate use?
Omeprazole/Esomeprazole - reduces clearance so toxicity increases
Rifampacin, antifungals - Hepatotoxic drugs
NSAIDs ibuprofen - reduces renal clearance so toxicity increases

Ibuprofen! - reduces renal clearance so increases toxicity
