A
Simple seizures are focal seizures with awareness (Aura)

Focal seizures with impaired awareness

What are symptoms of complex focal seizures?
A
They may stare blankly into space or experience automatisms (non-purposeful, repetitive movements such as lip smacking, blinking, grunting, gulping or shouting).

What is the First line treatment for focal seizures?
A
Levetiracetam or Lamotrigine
