What is development?
A series of lasting change - this can be biological, cognitive, physical or social factors
What is a theory?
An explanation for why or how a given phenomenon occurs (a theory needs to be able to explain all the evidence gathered about a phenomenon.)
What is a hypothesis?
A prediction of how the results of an experiment will look like
What is a fact and what are the two types?
Established knowledge
(type 1 -can be easily extracted from our environment or type 2 - require special settings/measurement to be observed) – latter usually based on a series of empirical results
What is evidence?
Results of an experiment
What is maturation?
Biological growth processes that enable orderly changes in behaviour, relatively uninfluenced by experience
What is a schema?
Mental framework that helps interpret information
