What is emotional competence/regulation?
The processes whereby an individual’s emotional arousal is maintained within their capacity to cope.
What are extrinsic processes?
E.g parental holding - infant initially highly dependent on caregivers to regulate their emotions
What are intrinsic processes?
Developments in brain and nervous system and in thinking and language
