As of November 6, 1986 all employers must complete Form I-9 for all new applicants.
When must form I-9 be completed?
Must be completed within the first three (3) days of employment

Applicants must provide evidence of identity and employment eligibility.
What must employers do with Form I-9
Employers must record (copy) items used for identity and employee eligibility. Record the documents, date issued, document numbers, and expiration dates.
How long should employers retain I-9 forms.
Employers must retain 1-9 forms for at least three (3) years after the date of hire or one (1) year after employment ends, whichever is later
