Connective Tissue Flashcards
What are Connective Tissues?
Deep tissues not exposed out of body, support and bind other tissues
store nutritional substance
most diverse
What are the 3 layers of the skin?
- Superficial Facia - between skin and organs, hypodermis
- Deep Fascia - strong fibrous framework, dense tissue
- Subserous Fascia - areolar tissue
What does Connective tissue do?
Derived from Mesoderm, Vary in structure and fuction, Highly Vascularised, Cell Adhesion, Replication and Repair
What are the 3 Basic Components of Connective tissue?
Specialised cells- fibroblasts
Protein Fibres - collagen
Ground Substance- fills spaces between cells
What are the 3 types of connective tissue and subtypes?
Proper - loose & dense
Fluid - Blood & Lymph
Supporting - Cartilage & bone
List some Supporting cells?
Fibroblasts, Chondrocytes, Osteocytes, Adipocytes
What are the 3 Fibre C Tissues?
Collagen - long, straight, flexible
Reticular - thinner, framework
Elastic - branched, wavy
Describe the Embryonic Classification of C tissue?
Migrates and interacts with other tissues to form organs from mesnchyme
i.e Umbilical cord
Describe the C tissue Proper Classification?
Fibroblast cells - spindle shaped
produces collagen
loose matrix
Describe Loose Proper C tissue?
Binding and packing - flexible- skin to underlying muscle
Describe Dense Regular C tissue?
Dense packed collagen fibres parallel to action i.e tendons
Describe Dense Irregular C tissue?
Dense packed collagen fibres, interwoven i.e dermis of skin
Describe Elastic C Tissue?
Elastic fibres- stretchy - walls of arteries
Describe Reticular tissue?
Network reticular fibres woven - jellylike - forms framework of organs
Describe Adipose tissue?
Cells store fat droplets - food reserve i.e surface of heart
