Anatomy and Physiology Flashcards
what is Anatomy?
the science of structure
What is Physiology?
the science of body functions
What are the 3 Assessment structures and functions?
Palpation - pulse
Auscultation - listen to body organ
Percussion- tap for surface echo
What is the anatomical position?
Standing upright
face observer head level
feet flat on floor
palms turned forward
What is the prone position?
body lying facing down
What is the Supine position?
body lying facing upwards

What does medical imaging do?
Allows to view inside the body to observe anatomy present to diagnose disease
What is conventional radiography?
Produces 2-D image on film
Used for osteology and Abdominal x-ray
What is Computed tomography?
Moving x-ray beam that produces a video monitor of a cross-section of the body, to build 3-D view
What is Digital Subtraction Angiography?
Radiopaque material injected into blood vessels
distracting structures removed by subtracting pre-contrast part from image
