What are Individual Constraints?
They are factors that are unique to a person.
These constraints may be:
Physical (weight, height, build).
Psychological (motivation, self-esteem).
Behavioural (Short attention span, difficulty focusing).
What are environmental constraints?
They are constraints that are external to the individual, such as:
Physical (Wind, weather, air pollution).
Sociocultural (Gender identity, socialization, cultural identity).
What are Task Constraints?
Task Constraints are related to constraints found in the game, such as:
The rules
The Equipment
The goals of the activity
What is the Coach’ role?
To help manage various constraints, in order to benefit the athlete and optimize their performance.
What are different Coaching styles?
Authoritarian, Business-like, Nice guy, Intense, Easy-going.
What does Authoritarian Coaching encompass?
Emphasizes discipline
May be disliked by the athletes
Business-like?
Logical, professional approach to sports.
Involves lots of planning and is always technologically present.
Expects top effort all the time.
Nice Guy?
Well liked by athletes.
Players may take advantage of their niceness.
Intense?
Emphasizes winning above all.
Anxiety often transfers onto the players.
Easy Going?
Casual Approach
