Cell Structure - Cells In Animal And Plants Flashcards
What is a prokaryotic cell?
Less complex - theres no nucleus.
E.g bacteria.
What is a Eukaryotic cell?
More complex - has a nucleus.
All animal and plant cells are eukaryotic.
What does the nucleus do?
Contains genetic material, controls what cell does.
In both plant and animal cells.
What does the cytoplasm do?
Most of chemical reactions happen here.
In both animal and plant cells.
What does the cell membrane do?
Controls what goes im and out of the cell.
Both animal and plant cells have this.
What does the mitochondria do?
Where most aerobic respiration takes place - which transfers energy that the cell needs to work.
In both plant and animal cells.
What do ribrosomes do?
Where proteins are made in cell.
In both plant and animal cells.
What are all of the animal parts of a cell?
Nucleus
Mitochondria
Ribrosomes
Cytoplasm
Cell membrane
What does the cell wall do? (Plant cell only)
Made of cellulose
Supports cell and strengthens it.
What does a permanent vacuole do? (Plant cell(
Contains cell sap.
What do the chloroplasts do? (Plant cell)
Contains chlorophyll
Where photosynthesis happens.
Plant cells have all of the animal cell components, plus what else?
Permanent vacuole
Cell wall
Chloroplasts
What components are in a bacterial, or prokaryotic cell?
Cell wall
Cell membrane
Cytoplasm
Single loop of DNA
Plasmids (small rings of extra DNA)
