Homeostatis Flashcards
What is homeostasis?
Why is it important?
Why does it happen?
Keeping conditions in body and cells at right level, which happens in response to changes inside and outside of body,
Important as cells need right conditions to work properly.
Includes right conditions for enzymes to work.
What control conditions keep homeostasis?
What are they made up of?
Nervous system or hormones.
Made up of;
Receptors
Co-ordination centers (includes brain, pancreas and spinal cord)
effectors.
How does the control system work to keep homeostasis?
Receptor detects stimulus (change in environment)
Sends information to co-ordination centre, which receives and processes info.
Then organises a response.
