What are hormones?
Chemical messengers sent by blood, which are released by glands.
What is the pituitary gland?
Called Master gland
Produces many hormones that regulate body conditions.
Hormones act on other glands, which make glands release hormones that bring change.
Located in brain.
What is the thyroid gland? what does it produce?
Produces thyroxine.
Involved in regulating thing like the rage of metabolism, heart rate and temperature.
Located in the neck.
What is the adrenal gland? Where is it located? What does it produce?
Produces adrenaline.
Used to prepare body for flight or fight response.
On top of each kidney.
What do ovaries produce?
Produces estrogen which is involved in menstrual cycle.
What do tested produce?
Produces testosterone
Controls puberty
What does the pancreas gland produce?
Produces insulin which regulates blood glucose level.
What’s the difference between hormones and nerves?
Nerves are faster, act for a shorter time and in a very precise area. Hormones are opposite.
