Involves injecting small amount of dead or inactive pathogens into body
Pathogens have antigens on surface
Causes white blood cells to produce antibodies, which then happens again if same pathogen comes back

A

Helped control communicable diseases like polio.
Big outbreak of a disease is an epidemic, which can be prevented if everyone’s vaccinated.
Which means even people who aren’t vaccinated are less likely to get disease as there are fewer people able to pass it on
