Speed and velocity - Forces and Motion Flashcards
Distance is Scalar /Vector?
Scalar
Distance is how far an object had moved and doesn’t involve direction.
Displacement is Scalar/Vector?
Displacement is a Vector quanitity.
as it measures distance and direction in a straight line from an objects starting point to its finish point. The direction could be in relation to a point, e.g school.
What is speed?
How fast your going with no regards to direction.
What is velocity?
Speed in a given direction, e.g 30mph north or 20m/s to the right.
If an object moves in a straight line, the distance it travels can be plotted in what graph?
distance time graph.
How an objects velocity changes it can be plotted in a what graph?
velocity time graph.
What does the terminal velocity of an object mean?
an object falling at a constant speed.
