What are CEA Malfunction trip criteria
- Uncontrolled CEA movement (continues after out of AS)
- 1 CEA deviates >6.6” and reg group below TIL
- 2 or more CEA >9.9” deviation
- CPC ASI ± 0.45 trending to 0.5
- 12 finger CEA misaligned and cant be restored before DNBR/LPD trips
- CEA deviation prior to criticality (2 or more CEA >9.9”)
What are the required power reductions for CEA slip/drop
- > 80% 20% Down power
- 70-80% 15% Down power
- 45-70% 10% Down power
- 35-45% 5% Down power
How long do you have to START a down power on a slipped/drop CEA
10 Minutes
- 15 per FSAR
How long do you have to COMPLETE a down power for a slipped/drop CEA
1 Hour
How is the initial down power for a slipped/drop CEA accomplished
- Lower Turbine load
- Maintain Tavg>Tref 3-3.5*F
PZR Lvl LCO May be entered
What is the required boration rate for a slipped/drop CEA down power
35 gpm or greater
STA worksheet, borate at 40gpm
What procedures are you allowed to use to align for boration on a slipped/drop CEA down power
- AOP
- Emergency Boration AOP?
How long do you have to realign CEA’s following a slip/drop
2 Hours
- If not met commence shutdown
- LCO 3.1.5. C Mode 3 in 6 hours
How do CPC’s react to a 12 finger CEA misalignment
- affected quadrant CPC trip
- CEAC PF builds in other channels
- PF builds in over 6 hours
How does COLSS react to a slipped NOT dropped CEA
- Rod bottom contact not actuated Pulse counter not reset CEA position unkown
- CEA position used for DNBR/LPD POL’s now bad
- ASI/Tilt used incore still good
-COLSS is NOT out of service
How does a CEA slip >7.5” (without resetting pulse counter) affect LHR and DNBR LCO’s
- LCO’s not met
- Enter condition A
- Restore in 1 Hour
What actions are required if COLSS is OOS
- 72ST-9RX03 DNBR/LHR/ AZTILT/ASI
- LHR/ DNBR adverse trend assumed LCO not met enter Condition B
- Determine Trend Every 15 minutes
Are you allowed to Prompt and Prudent place CEDMCS in STBY for CEA motion
- Inward motion NO
- Outward motion YES
How are misaligned CEA’s recovered?
- Place CEDMCS in MI
- Align affected CEA’s to group
- Maintain Tavg/ref <3*F
- MAX 2 step difference between all affected CEA’s
