What is Site Evac?
1: Small # of citizens

3: Usually only workers and adjacent occupancies

What is Intermediate Evac?

What is Large Scale Evac?

2: Out of homes business for many hours or days

Why should high caution be used when evaluating if hazard is secure and allowing people back?
Many residents will not want to evac a 2nd time
Who manages Shelters?
Parks and Recs. Early notification is required as it may take them up to 3 hours to mobilize
Site selection made by IC after consulting parks and recs, and a shelter manager will be assigned. What resources from the FD will need to be provided to P&R for assistance?

Door to door is time consuming, how can we speed it up?
1: Air horns, sirens, PA systems
2: Reverse 911 (provide dispatch with desired location)
When making door to door notifications how do we do it?
1: In uniform with PPE
2: Explain this is an emergency and they are in danger and to leave immediately
3: Tell when the shelter is and what route to take or if they need ride
4: Take wallet, keys, money, glasses, meds, proper clothing, pets
How do we perform rapid evacs?
1: 3 5 second horn blasts with siren
2: Provide the same info over PA as door to door over maximum volume
4: Proceed slowly
5: Start at beginning of each block and 50 yards there after
How can we persuade those refusing?
1: In turnouts with SCBA face piece (not on air)
2: Ask for next of kin info and write down
3: Report over radio to Branch
4: If continue to refuse we must triage and help the most we can, they will be left to fend for themselves
What are Transportation Branch’s responsibilities?
1: Obtain Buses (min of 2) and other vehicles
2: Stage vehicles
3: Provide each vehicle with a FF
4: Coordinate pick up sites with Evac sector
Who is the liaison with the EOC?
Senior Adviser then Planning Section Chief
What are the Planning Section’s EOC liaison officers responsibilities during evac?
1: Obtain radio link cell phone link with EOC
2: Provide report to EOC initially and every 30min
3: Provide command with info, direction from EOC
Who is the sole person responsible for the order to return evacuees?
