How does CAD select units for dispatch?
Based on the closet most appropriate units, going by their location capability and status, paired with the event type. This is done until all requirements of an event type can be satisfied
You can balance by requesting a specific unit or capability. What is upgrading to the greater alarm?
A predefined requirement set based off of event type
If an event is upgraded how does CAD handle?
It recognizes the units on seen and fills in next alarm. You can upgrade without a next alarm (request an additional 2n1 etc?
How must a unit self dispatch?
On the assigned radio channel and advise if they are adding on or substituting
How does a unit initiate a dispatch?
1: On channel 1
2: Give desired assignment, location, nature
3: Additional info given on assigned channel
How should status changes, and routing be performed by units?
1: Via MCT (decrease radio traffic)
2: If MCT unavailable voice over channel 1
How are larger incident group notifications made?
1: Responsibility of IC
2: Pager notifications preplanned
3: Duty Chief should notify City manager
4: Duty Chief notifies fire chief of additional info not in page
What are the minimum level staffing stations?
201 204 206 208 209 215 219 220
Who can override a move up?
BC
When should move ups be considered?
1: Working Fire
2: 3 or more units committed to an outlying area
3: Greater alarm dispatched
4: Simultaneous incidents
5: Coverage compromised
6: 2 or more adjacent station uncovered more than 30 minutes
How do we respond for move ups?
Code 2 unless critical gap then Captain may upgrade code 3
What are the 3 unit statuses
1: AIQ
2: AOR
3: Unavailable (this includes on an incident)
How should units go unavailable and back in service?
1: Unavailable report to alarm by radio or phone with reason length of time
2: Back is service via MCT
How does Alarm handle acknowledgment or calls?
1: No ackg with 1 minute alarm request over radio
2: After 3 attempts to ackg alarm will dispatch cover unit while continuing to contact on all channels
3: If unable to contact they will be placed unavailable and BC notified
How does command convey significant tactical plans?
With progress reports to alarm. First report after plan initiated this has the on scene info
What is included on a working fire response?
1: RIC Engine
2: Ladder if LT on initial 3n1
3: Rehab
4: Utility truck
5: Utility companies (gas electric)
What should arriving units in level 1 staging voice to command?
1: Identity
2: Direction from scene
What channels is level 2 staging assigned?

What is the radio order model:
1: Send gives their ID and ID of unit they are calling
2: Receiver give their ID and ready to receive

4: Receiver gives ID and brief summary (always to include critical info)
What are the 3 ways you can call emergency traffic?
1: Voice over radio
2: Push emergency button on radio
3: Push emergency button on the MCT (F11)
What do you do if alarm doesnt respond to and the special tone does not sound for the emergency activation button?
Establish contact with command and re initiate emergency traffic
How do individual firefighters identify themselves on the radio?
Unit ID and name (E203 FF Russo)
What is Condition 2 for radio traffic?
With the approval of Shift supervisor or request from BC all non incident related traffic is to stop. Only critical info should be voiced. Status changes done by MCT and units are not to switch calls. Alarm will encode stations to notify
What is a 906 radio code?
1: This is the only radio “code” we use
2: Means police needed urgently
3: PD will respond code 3
4: Alarm will not ask the unit for any info
How shall we communicate on the radio?
1: Short and specific
2: Task/Company oriented
3: Indicate objective
4: Clear tone and rate
5: Well timed
When can the CM Behavioral be dispatched?
A behavioral emergency with no injury, ingestion of harmful substance, no need for emergent medical attention
What call sign shall EMS personnel at a special event utilize?
Medic
How do we announce a vehicle changeover?
Unit designation and vehicle number (Engine 203 now in vehicle 2534)
