1st: Rehab, Canteen
2nd: Staff and command officers, port a john, refueling truck, mechanics, radio tech, spare radios, weather reports
What are critical factors for wildland?

2: Fuel
3: Topography
What are weather considerations for wildland?
1: Winds can change 180 degrees near midday and become gusty
2: Fire spread slows in evening as humidity increases
3: Fire spread will speed up midmorning as humidity decreases
4: Large fires create convection currents
What are fuel considerations for wildland?
1: Metro area is relatively light and burns quick
2: Light overhaul to include stumps and embers so they dont blow away
What are topography considerations during wildland?
1: Fire burns uphill more rapidly and create spot fires are created downhill once fire crowns
2: Topo may create access problems
3: Consider exposures and where you can make access such as roads
Where should the command post be located during wildland?
1: Safe area where if the fire shift you wont have to move it
2: Where a helicopter can land
Where are maps located for wildland?
1: Command post
2: BC truck
3: Command van that has aerial photos as well
What is the general strategy of a basic brush fire?
1: Stop forward progress (Offensive)
2: Protect exposures (Defensive)
How should water supply be managed if in short supply?
1: Apply to burning material instead of wetting fuel (may dry up quick)
2: Apply to seriously exposed structures
For large open grass fires what can aid us in containment?
Natural barriers (wash, road, canal etc)
What are size up considerations for wildland?
1: Fire head (fast moving part)
2: Burning conditions (time of day weather)
3: Type of fuel (heavy light)
4: Exposures
5: Size and speed
6: Special hazards
7: Manpower needs
8: Fuel continuity
9: Accessibility
10: Water
11: Line of retreat
