- Lies anterior behind symphysis pubis upper part
- It is continuous with median umbilical ligament which is fibrosed urachus
Base
- Posterior surface
- Triangular
Base: in male upper part
Separated from rectum by rectovesical pouch which contains coils of pelvic colon and terminal ileum
Base: in male lower part
Separated from rectum by:
1. 2 vasa deferentia ampullae
2. 2 seminal vesicles
3. Denonviller fascia
Base: in female
Related to:
1. Cervix supravaginal part
2. Anterior vaginal wall
Superior surface
Covered by peritoneum and ureters join its posterior angles
Superior surface in male
Related to:
1. Sigmoid colon
2. Ileum coils
Superior surface: in female
Related to:
Uterus and separated from it by uterovesical pouch and cervix supravaginal part with fibro-areolar tissue in between
2 inferolateral surfaces: in front
Related to retro-pubic space fat
2 inferolateral surfaces: posterior
Related to:
1. Obturator internus above
2. Levator ani below
Neck
- Urinary bladder lowest and most fixed part
- 3-4 cm behind symphysis pubis lower part
- It is internal urethral orifice
Neck: in male
- Lies on prostate
- Continuous with prostatic urethra
- It gives attachment to pubo-prostatic ligament which blends with prostatic fibrous capsule
Neck: in female
- Lies directly on pelvic fascia
- Continuous with urethra
- Gives attachment to pubo-vesical ligament
