Urinary Bladder: Peritoneal Coverings And Ligaments Flashcards
1
Q
Peritoneal covering: male
A
- Superior surface and base upper most part are covered by peritoneum
- From superior surface, peritoneum passes lateral to pelvis side walls forming right and left paravesical fossae
2
Q
Peritoneal covering: in female
A
Only superior surface is covered with peritoneum from which peritoneum passes lateral to pelvis side walls forming right and left paravesical fossae
3
Q
Ligaments
A
- Median umbilical ligament
- Medial umbilical ligaments
- Pubovesical ligaments
- Lateral ligaments
- Posterior ligaments (sacrogenital folds) in male
4
Q
Median umbilical ligament
A
Fibrosed urachus, extending between urinary bladder apex and umbilicus
5
Q
Medial umbilical ligaments
A
2 obliterated umbilical arteries, extending from superior surface side towards umbilicus
6
Q
Pubovesical ligaments
A
- Fibromuscular tissue, extending from bladder neck to pubic bone inferior aspect
- It represents pubourethral ligament in female or puboprostatic ligament in male
7
Q
Lateral ligaments
A
Peritoneal reflections attending from bladder to pelvis side walls
8
Q
Posterior ligaments
A
- Connective tissue condensations
- Extend from lateral edge of bladder base to posterior pelvic wall
