A
- Begins in front of sacroiliac joint at lumbosacral disc level, as smaller of common iliac artery 2 terminal branches
- Passes downwards & backwards along posterior part of pelvis lateral wall
- Ends opposite greater sciatic foramen upper margin by dividing into anterior and posterior divisions
